Irvine California is one of those rare beasts, that being it was actually planned from the start, rather than simply evolving as a higgledy-piggledy mess like most cities. The layout can be attributed to architect William Pereira and Raymond Watson. The duo came up with design inspired by the shape of a necklace, which might explain why Irvine is such a pretty place to reside; it’s a veritable jewel.
And now LZF is proud to be a part of Irvine’s grand plan, thanks to the talented Samantha Tanner from Samantha Tanner Interiors.
Samantha was enlisted to design the office space of Province West; a residential land brokerage firm in Irvine. She used Ray Power’s Escape pendants in white, grey and green to great effect over the break area.
“The company was looking for a hip, fresh, youthful vibe and the break area doubles as a place for staff to entertain clients,” says Samantha. “LZF’s pendants were a perfect way to create a statement and bring life into the space.”
Just looking at the gorgeous imagery taken by Erika Bierman and it’s apparent that Samantha really knows her stuff, particularly when it comes to juxtaposing colour and texture. It’s little wonder the project won the Gold Award for Commercial Spaces for the 2015 ASID Orange County.
Escape is one of LZF’s newest expressions, and like all of our lamps it is handmade from FSC certified timber veneer. In arriving at the design, Ray Power drew inspiration from the dominos he used to play with as a child.
Variously described as a circle of dominos, and a chain of self-supporting rectangles, the Escape is typical of all Ray Power’s designs in that it is imbued with a sculptural simplicity that never fails to capture the imagination.
LZF believes the Escape has what it takes to become one of our most sought after lamps.
