Tracy, California can be found inside the geographic triangle formed by Interstate 205 on the north side, Interstate 5 to the east, and Interstate 580 to the southwest. Which is why Tracy’s motto is to “Think inside the Triangle.”
So when LZF was recently asked to provide a bunch of its groovy handmade timber lamps for a new restaurant in Tracy, we were a little conflicted. LZF doesn’t ever think inside the triangle. It thinks outside the square.
The restaurant in question is The Commons, a gastropub that focuses on food, beer and spirits…lots of spirits. Parris Reed of the Reed Design Group has done a stellar job creating a moody speakeasy that wouldn’t look out of place in a 1940’s film noir, and we’d like to think our lamps go a long way to creating that atmosphere.
Parris had an entire catalogue of LZF lamps to choose from, so it can’t have been an easy task narrowing it down. After much deliberation he selected three gorgeous Agatha SG pendant lamps, and these take pride of place suspended from the rafters along The Commons’ main axis in front of the bar.
Agatha was inspired by who-dunnit novelist, Agatha Christie, specifically her wild and woolly perm. The lamp was designed by Luis Eslava from Luis Eslava Estudio, who is a huge Agatha Christie fan, and shares the same hair style. With its carefully assembled tangle of veneer strips, the Agatha is a dramatic sculptural addition to any interior.
Also featured in The Commons are four Pleg wall sconces, designed by Yonoh Estudio Creativo. The Pleg was born of a simple idea that lends its name: the folding of a Timberlite® veneer. (Pleg means too fold in Valencian). We reckon the Pleg really looks great along the wall opposite the bar.
After seeing how fabulous The Commons looks, we might start thinking inside the triangle more often.
