In a collaboration between LZF and its Australian distributor Kezu, six of Kezu’s leading Oz-based interior design clients travelled to LZF’s charming home in Chiva ,Valencia. The six guests represented four different Australian architecture and design studios: Geyer, HDR|Rice Daubney, Luchetti Krelle and Sheargold. Welcomed by LZF’s always affable co-founders, Marivi Calvo and Sandro Tothill, the guests from down under enjoyed an evening of fine family-like Spanish hospitality.
At LZF, visitors are typically entertained with a reception where every detail is carefully considered. This event was designed by Marivi Calvo and Rocío Pastor, a stylist, props and costume designer working with the brand. A behind the scenes tour is a must-see at LZF’s delightful factory and so first things first, the Australian guests were treated to an illuminating guided tour by Marivi and Sandro. They were shown the production floor and had an opportunity to view several of LZF’s latest prototype lights. En route, they encountered many of LZF’s handmade wood creations, including the wonderful Life Size collection. And with his usual aplomb, Sandro regaled his guests with stories, presenting an overview of LZF’s work.
Following the factory tour and presentation, the group made its way into the garden where chilled and rhythmic beats spread throughout the evening air and hanging wood lights dressed the scene with an elegant sparkle. Here, the focus turned to good food, conversation and relaxation. A jamón (pata negra) and cheese selection was prepared by El Maño, the perfect nibbles to enjoy while sipping the freshly made pear and ginger or lemon and rosemary Martinis. For dinner, various characters from LZF’s playful
Funny Farm joined guests at the table, where the lucky diners savoured succulent Argentinian lamb BBQ, delicious salads and a trio of tempting desserts.
As the evening light faded, LZF’s lamps shone all around, both high and low. Irish designer Ray Power’s Escape, Swirl and New Wave pendants and Luis Eslava Estudio’s Agatha SG pendants brightened the night air. Also on show, LZF’s new portable Piknik table lights were ideal dinner companions. Designed by Belén Moratalla, Cristina Planells and Inelén Ortínthe, the handsome Piknik lamp features a tubular veneer, helpful carrying handle and a rechargeable battery that will last up to eight hours (and will also charge your smartphone). And with the joyous banter and entertainment provided by Sandro and Marivi, eight hours of battery life will bask guests in a warming glow well into the night.
