The best restaurants afford a means of escape. They offer patrons an intermission from life’s daily rigours, providing a space to breathe, to relax and to indulge. At Tipics, a contemporary restaurant and coffee shop located in Xàtiva, a town in the province of Valencia, patrons are able to relax and indulge in the choice interior surroundings. Among the many notable design pieces that contribute to Tipics’s sense of aesthetic pleasure, diners can enjoy the ambient light from LZF’s handsome Escape pendants.
Standing at the entrance to Tipics, one is able to discern the sweeping interior vista: the eatery comprises a lounge bar, restaurant and private area. The entrance, a terrace clad in matt light grey limestone tiles (from Living Ceramics), has a tempting glass-covered pastry bar and alfresco seating area; it is an inviting indication of what lies beyond the glass-walled partition.
Designed by estudi{H}ac, a reputable Spanish design atelier, Tipics deftly balances a symmetrical space with a harmonious blend of muted tones and stronger accent colours, such as the bright yellow “Smile” bar stools from Andreu World. The light grey limestone tiles continue throughout the restaurant, providing a neutral backdrop to the decorative woodwork, Nordic-style oak furniture and Danish Kvadrat fabrics.
At Tipics, LZF’s Escape lights work in unison with other carefully chosen lamps. Designed by Ray Power, the Escape light can be described as having a clever domino-like structure, where its self-supporting panels fall into a ring of light, their form defying gravity. A unique handmade wood light, estudi{H}ac chose to hang a series of turquoise-coloured Escape pendants in the casual lounge bar area of Tipics. Presenting an especially striking feature, the Escape pendants add a genuine sense of style and structure to the surroundings.
It is quite easy to imagine perching at the bar, a warm summer’s breeze drifting through the open glass partition. Sipping wine, while away a balmy evening and enjoy the allure of a charming Escape.
