They say everything is big in Texas – the skies, the ten-gallon hats, women’s hairdos, and the steaks, ahhh the steaks – which is not surprising for a state that is almost 700,000 square kilometres in size; that’s about the size of France and Switzerland combined.
But what many people may not realise is that Texas is also home to the world’s largest gathering of people dressed like turkeys. In 2011 at the Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot, 661 runners donned turkey costumes and gobbled down the main street.
Thankfully there was nothing turkey about LZF’s latest project in the Lone Star State. But the Swananoah Residence is certainly big. It also happens to be one of the most stunning residential homes we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.
Designed by Stocker Hoesterey Montenegro Architects, just one look at the images above will confirm how special this home really is. Using a palette of stacked stone, steel and glass, the architects have created a modernist masterpiece wrapped around a resort style swimming pool and verdant green lawns.
We can’t help but boast that our Mini Mikado looks super-amazing and has become a focal point of the finished abode. Designed by Spaniard Miguel Herranz, the Mini Mikado is one of our most dynamic forms; a veritable explosion of energy whose strips of wood unfold in the air and project beautiful rays across the room. And like all of LZF ’s handmade timber veneer lamps, it is made from FSC certified wood.
The architect has selected our Mini Mikado to hang over the main stairwell where it can be seen from both inside and out. Not a lamp for shrinking violets, we think it looks terrific from any angle but especially with that view of the forest behind it. And it makes a very powerful statement when viewed from the front path, whether switched off or on.
The Mini Mikado is Texas’s newest star.
