On the 15th of March 2018 at la Central de Diseño de Matadero Madrid, an exhibition was held that included the last 25 editions of the Spanish National Design Awards; an interesting exhibition that served to bring together an impeccable selection of the pieces that have been bestowed this award during the last 25 years of the Spanish National Design Awards.
Amongst the illustrious names in Spanish design was our longtime collaborator, Isidro Ferrer. Ferrer, winner of the award in 2002 is a well-versed illustrator and designer, as well as the artist behind the creation of our ‘Funny Farm’ collection.
‘Funny Farm’ is a collection of 17 wooden figurines that represent Ferrer’s peculiar vision of reality, always adding a touch of poetic surrealism to his work. Isidro Ferrer has a great capacity to devour what he sees and create pure art, this may well mean he has one of the greatest appetites on the planet!
The exhibition, held in March, curated by the designer Marcelo Leslabay, was organised by the Ministry of Economy with the collaboration of BCD Barcelona Centro de Diseño, la Asociación de Diseñadores de Madrid (DiMad) and Red Española de Asociaciones de Diseño (RED).
Part of the exhibition consisted of each designer explaining, by means of an audio narration installed beside their project, the importance of their work and how this has been reflected in the prize. Isidro Ferrer’s pieces for LZF make up a collection that demonstrates the imposing imagination of this illustrator and graphic designer.
