LZF Pendant Lights in Munich RE Offices, NZ.
With the exception of Brenda from accounts (who insists on wearing anti-bacterial gloves to open the staff refrigerator) the team at LZF have never been the types to play it safe. For instance, our last staff Christmas party saw the entire sales crew BASE jump from Valencia’s Torre Hilton while singing Silent Night. And only last week, Marivi and Sandro our illustrious founders, cycled into work without wearing helmets.
So, given our partiality for danger, we found it quite becoming that Munich RE – one of the planet’s leading reinsurers; a company that takes on risks worldwide – would choose several LZF handmade wooden pendant lights for its swanky new office work space in Auckland, New Zealand.
Stack Business Interiors, a well-respected Kiwi firm, were briefed to come up with a workspace that was able to accommodate Munich RE in a smaller footprint, but without compromising their daily activities.
The space also required a strong statement to Munich RE’s clients, about the company and its corporate heritage.
Stack created a series of connected spaces to form corporate meeting and entertainment facilities which enjoy views beyond to the sparkling Auckland Harbour.
LZF’s wood veneer lamps were a no-risk choice for Munich RE’s simple but stylish office design. Hanging over the kitchen breakout area are two Anfora pendant lights by Spain’s smoothest hipster Miguel Herranz.
The Anfora’s feature an attractive curvy form, fashioned by interlacing wooden slats by hand. When the lamp is lit, the subtle play of transparencies creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere for Munich RE’s clients and staff. And when switched off, it provides a strong contrast to the white on white kitchen laminate, ceramic floor tiles and ceiling. Set against a backdrop of Auckland Harbour, the Anfora reminds us of a ship’s propeller, or a seed pod floating on the water. Nice.
Burkhard Dammer also provided two of his super sleek I-Club pendant lights to hang in the boardroom. Not only do they add the sense of Teutonic gravitas that such a space demands, they are also a very practical linear source of illumination.
After the job was completed we celebrated by bungee jumping from the rooftop.
LZF; it pays to play it safe.
