Here at LZF we are mad about white. Why? Well, for a start it’s the name of our favourite chemistry teacher – Walter White from Breaking Bad. Plus it’s the name of one of our favourite Beatles recordings – The White Album (who doesn’t love While My Guitar Gently Weeps?) But most of all white is the colour associated with pure light. And as you know, we’re crazy about light; we built a career on it.
Valencian architecture firm ONSIDE are similarly enamored with white. Take a look through their gallery of projects and white is the dominant element. Along with an ethereal airiness and lots and lot of light.
ONSIDE, founded by the two Carlos’s – Balada and Bonet – have once again used white and light in this major revamp of a home in the historic Eixample district of Valencia. The home had previously been renovated a decade ago, but there was meager storage, inconsistent circulation, and a lack of natural light.
The project called for the clever utilisation of every centimetre of space and an aesthetic that embraced the purity of white, the nobility of wood, and a timeless atmosphere in which light could prevail.
The team at LZF played a part in this transformation, providing two white Chou table lamps that have pride of place in the hallway. Like all our wood lamps, the Chou are handmade from beautiful FSC wood veneer. Created by Yonoh design studio, the Chou was inspired by the film, The World of Susie Wong and deliver a touch of the exotic to any space.
