It’s pretty obvious that LZF loves wood. Indeed, our whole company is based around creating beautiful wood veneer lamps and supplying them to design lovers around the globe. If there was such thing as a fan club for wood fanatics, we’d be the cheerleaders.
What is it we love about this wonderful material? Everything. We love its individual characteristics, how its grain is as unique as a human fingerprint. We love that it is a carbon-neutral, renewable resource. And of course we love the way that light shines through our warm wood veneers, bringing them to life and imbuing them with love.
Thankfully for us the Earth contains about one trillion tonnes of wood, growing at a rate of 10 billion tonnes each year. So that’s a heck of a lot of lamps for us.
Our love of wood explains why Sandro was so excited when architect extraordinaire Benoit Robein (from Mag-Architects) enlisted him to provide a lamp for a new wooden house in Montreuil near Paris (incidentally, the city of lights).
Benoit is almost as passionate about wood as our Sandro, with many of his projects highlighting the material, especially as a cladding. The Montreuil house features vertical timber battens which add an interesting texture to the two-level façade and will gradually weather to a soft silvery grey.
Inside, the finish is much simpler, with crisp white walls and rich timber floors. Our Link lamp (designed by the unstoppable Ray Power) adds a much loved sculptural counterpoint to the minimalist living space.
Wood. Can you do no wrong?
