Here at LZF we’ve always been geometry geeks, with a few of our team even attending the World Geometry Fair in Basel last year, and proudly wearing their I’m in good shape T-Shirts around the office. The point is, without geometry and all it entails, we wouldn’t be able to create our fabbo lamps.
In the pantheon of geometrical shapes we’ve always had a few favourites. The cylinder is quite lovely (and it forms the basis for our wonderful Gea). And we admit to having a soft spot for the dodecahedron, quite simply because it sounds so damn impressive when you mention it at parties.
But up there with the best of them, just has to be the Trihedral. Defined as having three plane faces that meet at a common point, the Trihedral is one of the sexiest shapes we can imagine. And it’s a gravelly, vampy sexiness. You could say the Trihedral is the Selah Sue of geometry.
So it’s no surprise that we jumped at the chance when asked to provide our gorgeous timber veneer pendant lights for a Trihedral shaped hotel on the beach at Cala Ratjada, Mallorca Spain
Son Moll Sentits is a hotel devoted to stimulating the senses (Sentits is Sensations in Catalan). The design cleverly works with light, sound, taste, smell and texture to contribute to an overall feeling of wellbeing.
Our Link Chain Pendant Lights – designed by the mighty Ray Power and polymath Marivi Calvo – illuminates the grand atrium; an area where the Trihedral is expressed in all its triangular glory. The Link Chain, comprised of eternally flowing Mobius strips, is an ideal juxtaposition to the sharp geometry of the space in which it hangs.
Geometry… long may you continue to inspire us.
