LZF Pendant Lighting in Barcelona Attic Apartment
The Barcelona life style is alluring. We understand. It not only has internationally acclaimed architecture by Gaudi, Mies Van Der Roe and Frank Gehry but it also boasts a Mediterranean climate, Catalan food, and world class art and design.
It was of no surprise that owners of this newly developed rooftop apartment decided to make this city their new home.
Set up high, with a view over the city, this rooftop sky parlor combines inside and outside living with its large terrace spaces. This, considering the climate, is one of the elements which makes the place so special.
The barbecue, seating and plant combination transform the terrace literal floating garden. A definite plus when the views are so spectacular are these.
The inside rooms utilize clean and neutral colours, with wood also features prominently throughout the interior and exterior spaces of the house.
We at LZF are big fans of wood, and love seeing this natural material feature in design. But despite its use in this project, the apartment was at risk of feeling cold.
With white and grey tones featuring so heavily in the project, the sky parlor could have reflected a cloudy day, however the interior designer from CM2 Disseny know their stuff, and this was where they showed their true experience and expertise.
They feature an LZF Link wood pendant light, by Irish designer and long time member of the LZF family Ray Power. The pendant light is punchy and iconic, catching they eye and giving the space the warmth it needs. The lamp shines out against the cooler colours of its surroundings, much like the sun bursting through the clouds, and we might add, quite appropriately giving the context of the place.
Being from Valencia, we here at LZF share a common understanding when it comes to light, that of the Mediterranean, which both our cities enjoy. This classic pendant light suitably reflects this understanding, that of the sea, the waves and the sun we love so much.
