LZF Lamps loves a good pharmacy. With Barbara from accounts being a certified hypochondriac, we tend to spend an ordinate amount of time in our local pharmacy, picking up her prescriptions.
So we felt we were more than qualified to help out with the lighting for a new pharmacy in Alicante, Spain. We’ve always been rather partial to Alicante. We particularly love the Castle of Santa Barbara and are rather chuffed that the locals won their battle to stop it becoming an industrial estate. And we don’t mind an amble along the promenade with its 6.5 million marble tiles.
But back to the Pharmacia Coloma. Esblanc Architects worked on the project in a commercial area of La Nucia, seamlessly blending architecture with corporate design to come up with something rather fabulous, not the least being the cross-shaped glazing in the façade. Priceless.
Step inside and an extensive merchandising space has been created around the perimeter walls, with a central cabinet incorporated to control movement throughout the store. The white on white palette is warmed by the use of wooden shelving and of course our gorgeous handmade X-Club lamp by the Teutonic titan, Burkhard Dämmer.
Burkhard, who was born in Germany in 1965, studied industrial design at the University of FH Daemmer and the University of San Jose in California. His collaboration with LZF Lamps has seen him produce some of our most iconic designs, including the Cuad, I-Club and of course the X-Club.
Esblanc have specified the X-Club to feature over the main area of the pharmacy – the dispensary. Its form is a perfect adjunct to the cruciform cut-out in the front façade. And like all of LZFs lamps, it is made from FSC certified timber veneer.
We believe the X-Club is the ideal prescription for a bad case of the funk.
