LZF recently made its debut in China at Shenzhen Design Dome. Taking place at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Centre from 25–28 July 2022, Design Dome is regarded as the established home of architecture and design in China. Launched in 2010 as a satellite event within Shenzhen Creative Week, Design Dome has grown exponentially. Today, this highly influential event curates the latest innovations in contemporary furniture and lighting, with contributions by a number of international brands. A key strategic aim of Design Dome is to ‘serve as a platform that connects global furniture brands with the Chinese design industry.’ LZF was in excellent company, with celebrated brands such as Zanotta, Fritz Hansen, Fredericia, and Mater also in attendance.

LZF worked with QQODD, its distributor in China, to create an appealing space in which to show a selection of handmade wood veneer lamps. Designed by LZF co-founder and creative director Mariví Calvo, LZF’s stand featured a series of elegant archways and recesses, displaying a carefully chosen edit of its lamps. The showcase included: Dandelion, Dune and Estela (both horizontal and vertical), Eris, Black Note Triplet, Minimikado, New Wave, Mini Chou, Swirl, Link Chain, Spiro, Air, Agatha, Lola, and Smelly Fant (whose life-size character welcomed visitors to LZF’s stand). Presented together, these lamps offered Design Dome’s attendees an insight into LZF’s fantastical world of ‘wood touched by light’.

As LZF’s first substantial appearance on the Chinese market, Shenzhen Design Dome was an opportunity to learn more about the potential Chinese customer base. By presenting a broad selection of its lamps in a warm and inviting space, LZF is certain to have won a new fan base: design aficionados with an appreciation for craftsmanship, sustainability, and honest, handmade lighting.

More on Shenzhen

Shenzhen is an industrial city in southern China. Once a small seaside town, Shenzhen is now one of China’s most liveable cities and a tech hub. It is part of the Pearl River Delta in the country’s Guangdong province. The Pearl River Delta was named the ‘world’s largest megacity’ by the World Bank—unsurprisingly, it is a region with a burgeoning economy and middle class. Shenzhen Design Dome is perfectly placed to reach a vast and curious design audience.
