Life’s a Beach
LZF wooden suspension pendant and table lamp illuminate beach house
Here’s an interesting fact that might help you win the next pub trivia night: Australia’s coastline is 35,876 kilometres long. That’s several thousand kilometres further than the distance from Sydney to London and back again. And a great deal of that sprawling Australian coastline comprises beaches; really, really nice beaches.
Among the best of Australia’s beaches (and certainly one of the poshest) is Palm Beach north of Sydney. Kind of like an Antipodean Hamptons, ‘Palmy’ is uber-rich and extremely good looking, and boasts many a lavish sand-side and cliff-top holiday home of the Emerald City’s movers and shakers. It also happens to be the location set of Summer Bay from the internationally popular teen soap opera Home and Away…but hey, don’t let that put you off.
Sydney-based studio Brooke Aitkin Design was recently recruited to create this very swish Palm Beach residence for a very lucky client.
LZF were quite chuffed to be involved, providing a super x-rated X-Club table lamp (by the Teutonically talented Burkhard Dammer) and a Nut pendant lamp by Ray Power (does this guy ever stop?). Both are finished in Ivory White wood veneer, capturing the muted, sun-bleached hues of the ocean-side location, and reminiscent of the driftwood that washes up on the sand outside.
We like to think that our handmade wood lamps go some way towards capturing the perpetual summer vibe for which Palmy is renowned.
Pims anyone?
