HE said, SHE said
Back in the day there was a famous book called Men Are from Mars, Woman Are from Venus. The writer, John Gray sold squillions of the things (more than 50 million copies actually) telling us what we already knew…that there are fundamental psychological differences between the sexes. An example is that women enjoy shopping for shoes, while men would rather poke out their own eyes with a blunt stick.
Anyway, these gender differences came to the fore most recently when a husband and his wife disagreed the design of their new digs in a Calgary neighborhood. A forward thinking sort of fellow, HE wanted something rather moderne. SHE on the other hand, being a more nostalgic sort, hankered for something traditional.
It was left to the guys from E3, a Calgary based boutique architecture and design firm to step in. They came up with a solution that would keep everybody happy; giving a traditional silhouette a modern makeover using a combination of cedar siding and corrugated steel.
LZF were also more than happy to find a compromise, supplying the project with several hand-made wood lamps that – like all of our beautiful veneer products – work well in both a traditional and modern setting.
And so two Orbit lamps, designed by Miguel Herranz, found their way onto the kitchen wall, while a Link wood lamp (by the inexorable Irishman Ray Power) appears in the dining room. All of the lamps were specified in a very funky shade of orange.
And they lived happily ever after.
