Dirt-bikers often get some bad press, especially when it comes to their environmental credentials. Not everyone is happy about folks whose chosen recreational activity is ripping through the countryside on a high-powered motor cycle.
And sure, as with any sport there are some idiots out there – yet, the majority of dirt-bikers do the right thing when it comes to protecting the trails; after-all, they have the most to lose if there is no longer anywhere to ride.
Expressing this environmental sensitivity when creating a high-concept retail store for Mudville motorcycles in Madrid, proved a challenge for the team from Stone Designs studio.
The solution was to work with timber, specifically oak, to convey warmth, community and eco-sensitivity. Wood was used for the flooring, countertop, and wall panelling that also functions as shelving. To push the organic story even further, Stone Designs specified LZF’s ivory white Domo lamps (designed by Rqr Studio) for the illumination of the space above the sales hub and in the breakout lounge area.
The result can be seen in the accompanying images where the dirt-bike is portrayed in a more positive, responsible manner, due to its association with timber.
Stone Designs (Cutu Mazuelos and Eva Prego) has always prided themselves on working with clients which they have an affinity with. LZF is very proud to be among them.
